Anna Herr, PhD

Scientific Director, imec

Anna Herr joined imec as a scientific director in May 2021. Prior to this, she was a Northrop Grumman Fellow since 2015 and Advisory Engineer at Northrop Grumman since 2011. After she received her master's and Ph.D. in Physics from Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1998, she joined Chalmers University in Gothenburg Sweden as a Post-Doctoral Fellow and became a full professor in 2006. From 2003-2006, she was a Research Fellow of The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Dr. Anna Herr has 30 years of experience in superconducting digital circuits. Her research interests include superconducting digital logic and systems, VLSI circuit design and development of the EDA tools, magnetic memory, and classical control for qubits. She pioneered the superconducting low-power spin memory JMRAM. She has 68 publications and 21 patents and multiple Northrop Grumman Leadership and Innovation awards.
